Asserting that internet services will berestored in phased manner in Kashmir, Union Minister for Communications, Law& Justice, Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad onThursday said that ‘the ministers visiting J&K have been instructed byPrime Minister Narendra Modi to strive for the development of the UnionTerritory’.
The Union Minister, who arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday, visitsthis north Kashmir border district on Thursday and inaugurated a SportsStadium, besides interacted with various delegations.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi told all the ministers tovisit J&K and strive for development there. In was in Srinagar yesterdaywhere I inaugurated All Women Post office, incubation facility at Srinagar Technology Parks ofIndia Srinagar and laid foundation stones of two hostels,” he told reports on the sideline of the inaugurationfunction here.
Mr Prasad said that Circuit Bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunalwill be started soon in Srinagar, besides 350 lawyers of J&K will becomenotary soon.
“I’m really happy to bein Baramulla, where I inaugurated an Indoor Stadium. I appreciate the work doneby the administration,” he said.
The Minister said that the Government of India is striving hardfor the overall development and prosperity of the youth of J&K.
Asserting that allpossible support will be given for development of sports, he said, “Thechildren here are very happy. It is heartening to see that the children arecapable of playing at national level. I have asked the J&K administrationthat all possible support should be given to the children.”
“Internet has beenrestored in many places and will be made operational in rest of the places aswell in phased manner,” he added.
He said the governmentwill setup every required infrastructure for development and export of ITproducts from J&K UT. “The incubation facility will provide opportunitiesto IT entrepreneurs by providing plug-n-play and other digital infrastructurealong with regulatory support to develop and export IT products from the UnionTerritory of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Mr Prasad’s visit to the valley comes in the wake of outreachprogramme launched by the centre to educate people about various developmentalprojects and schemes, including PMDP, flagship schemes and iconic projects,benefiting people in J&K. The outreach programme was launched by the centreover five months after abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A, besidesbifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir in two Union Territories – J&K and Ladakh.However, interestingly out of 36 Union Ministers visiting J&K, only fivewill interact with people in Kashmir valley.
